We accept no payment for coverage, rank nothing by commission, and disclose every hosted stay. Independence is the whole value of what we do.
Luxurious Travel is editorially independent. No property, brand, destination or agency can pay to be featured, placed, ranked or praised in our pages. We do not operate affiliate links, we earn nothing on commission when you go on to book something we wrote about, and no commercial relationship of any kind influences what we cover or the verdict we reach. When we praise a place, it is because we believe it deserves it. When we criticise one, the same is true.
Good journalism has to be paid for, and we believe in telling you exactly how. Luxurious Travel is supported by reader subscriptions and, where it appears, advertising. Any advertising is clearly labelled as such and is kept entirely separate from our editorial operation; advertisers receive no influence over, or advance sight of, editorial content, and buying an advertisement buys no favourable coverage. We do not sell travel and take no booking commissions.
Reporting on the world's finest stays sometimes means experiencing them, and on occasion a hotel, lodge, airline or operator may host all or part of a visit so that we can report on it first-hand. When that happens, three rules apply without exception: hosting is never a condition of coverage and is never agreed in exchange for a favourable verdict; the provider sees no copy before publication and has no approval over what we write; and where a hosted experience materially informs a piece, we disclose it clearly within that piece. Wherever possible, we travel anonymously and at our own expense, precisely so that we experience what an ordinary guest would.
We do not currently publish sponsored or "branded" content. Should that ever change, any such content will be conspicuously and unambiguously labelled as advertising or sponsored, visually distinct from editorial, and never presented as our independent reporting. We will not blur that line.
We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do we fix them openly. If you spot an error — a fact, a figure, a detail that has changed — tell us at [email protected] and we will correct the piece and, where the error was significant, note the correction.
Photography and illustration on this Site are either originated for us or created digitally to evoke the places and themes we write about. Where an image is illustrative rather than a literal photograph of a specific named property, we do not present it as documentary evidence of that property.
